Steinbeck Aquarium Fish Handplane
This double concave, super glossy, fish-shaped handplane is totally unique. The pinstripes are old growth redwood from John Steinbeck's first home on 11th Avenue in Pacific Grove, California where he wrote his first few novels. The dark stringer is an Indian rosewood off cut from the Santa Cruz Guitar Company. The lighter wood in the bottom half of the plane is Alaskan yellow cedar from Monterey Bay Aquarium benches. The redwood in the top half is from a porch from an old Victorian home on the lower Westside of Santa Cruz, California.
This handplane uses Entropy Super Sap Epoxy bio-resin which is made using mostly tree sap. The hand strap is nylon and adjustable. It is covered with off cuts from O'Neill Wetsuit product development, and the wood is shaped with our unique, ergonomic hand fit. The hardware is solid brass. As with all Ventana handplanes, this one floats so you can easily pass it between friends in the waves.
This handplane comes with a Ventana, double-thick, reclaimed towel bag with a Paracord drawstring from Khordz mugs.
You only need a single handplane on your leading arm for a great ride every time! This is a terrific conversation piece in your home and will slice you across the face of any sized surf.
